Helen Murgatroyd

Helen Murgatroyd’s linocuts document the rural community she lives and works in. Her practice is rooted in observational drawing; working directly from sketchbooks, her prints capture the humility of those depicted in their work and leisure activities.

Her recent work includes a series based on a Cornish dairy farm where she observes daily and annual rituals and aims to shine a light on the, often unseen, working processes.

Helen completed an MA in Printmaking at the Royal College of Art and continues to exhibit her work widely. Most recently ‘Linocut 2’ in Whitstable, and ‘Printfest’ in Cumbria, where, in 2019, she was voted ‘Printmaker’s Printmaker’. Helen lives and works in Bude, North Cornwall.
